Dr. Natalie Charlton

Dr. Natalie Charlton is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician who has been practicing in San Francisco since 2012. A fifth-generation San Franciscan, she earned her undergraduate degree from UCLA and her medical degree from the University of Southern California. She then completed her internal medicine training at California Pacific Medical Center.
Following her residency, she worked at CPMC for nearly a decade, where she supervised teams of residents and medical students in a teaching hospital setting. Dr. Charlton served on the board of Pacific Inpatient Medical Group, a physician-owned organization dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality inpatient care. At CPMC, she contributed to several committees, including five years as Chair of the Utilization Management Committee, and served on the Clinical Competency Committee.
Ultimately, she found herself missing the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients
and to be involved in their long-term care. This led her to pursue a transition into outpatient
medicine, following the paths of her father and grandfather, both of whom practiced primary
care in San Francisco.
Dr. Charlton provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for adults, with a strong emphasis on prevention and long-term wellness. She believes in a thoughtful, personalized approach that considers the whole person—not just their medical conditions. Dr. Charlton values clear, open communication and works closely with the broader healthcare team to ensure care is well-coordinated and seamless. By combining the latest medical research with compassionate, patient-centered care, she partners with her patients to help them achieve and maintain optimal health at every stage of life.
Dr. Charlton lives in San Francisco with her husband and their two children. She enjoys playing the piano, attending the symphony, traveling, exploring fashion, going to the gym, and watching documentaries, and cherishes time spent with her large extended family.
